Acknowledgement of Rules (and Consequences)
To help ensure that all students and volunteers feel welcome, accepted, and safe, we will consistently enforce some simple rules. The phrase "Stay SHARP" is an easy way to remember:
S TAY WITH THE GROUP
Our group nights will start upstairs in The Loft (formerly known as the youth room), and we will stay together the whole night unless otherwise instructed. Students should not be in any other part of the building without permission.
H ANDS TO YOURSELVES
This rule covers everything from annoying pokes to holding hands with your significant other. (But this isn't just about hands! Keep your bodies to yourselves.)
A REA BEHIND THE COUNTER IS OFF-LIMITS
It may seem like a little thing, but this is a leaders-only zone.
R ESPECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS
Show respect with your words, actions, and attitudes. Respect is key to self-worth and healthy relationships — especially as we help each other discover God's best for us.
P HONES AWAY
Over the years, phones have become an increasing distraction as they compete for attention during our youth group nights. Because we want students to be able to fully enter into our community, we ask that all high schoolers commit to putting their phones away from the time they arrive until the end of the night. We get that this is hard — and maybe even scary! And we will have grace as we all learn to break habits. But the general rule is this: We will give one warning; if the phone comes out again, the student will be asked to hand the phone over until it is time to head home. We completely understand that you may need to get in touch with your kids: If you must contact your student during youth group, please text a leader (phone numbers below) and they will let your student know.We share these rules with you so we can work together to make our group nights as beneficial for students as possible. If there is a violation, the student will receive a verbal warning. If the behavior continues, we will separate the student from the group and call a parent to inform you of the situation. Then we will send the student home or ask you to come to get your student, and there will be a one-week suspension. I realize this may sound harsh, but we commit to being fair, patient, and kind in our enforcement of the rules.
WAIVER/RELEASE AGREEMENT
In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way in any Meadows Christian Fellowship activity (“Activity”) I, for myself, my personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin:
ACKNOWLEDGE, agree and represent that I understand the nature of the Activity and that I am (or the minor attending is) qualified, in good health, in proper physical condition (and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person) to participate in such Activity. I further agree and warrant that if at any time I believe conditions to be unsafe, I will immediately discontinue further participation in the Activity. **DURING THIS SEASON OF COVID19- We have taken enhanced health and safety measures and agree to wear masks for the time we are meeting together (except when food is served) I understand that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.
I FULLY UNDERSTAND that: (a) ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES INVOLVE RISKS AND DANGERS OF SERIOUS INJURY, INCLUDING PERMANENT DISABILITY, PARALYSIS, AND DEATH (“RISKS”); (b) these Risks and dangers may be caused by my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others participating in the Activity, the condition in which the Activity takes place, or THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE ‘RELEASES’ NAMED BELOW; (c) there may be OTHER RISKS AND SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC LOSSES either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time, and I FULLY ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSSES, COSTS, AND DAMAGES I incur as a result of my participation or that of the minor in the Activity.
I HEREBY RELEASE, DISCHARGE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE Meadows Christian Fellowship, related affiliated and subsidiary companies, as well as the officers, directors, agents, employees and assigns of each, and the clubs, coaches, officials, administrator, members, volunteers, participants, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable owners and lessors of premises on which the Activity takes place, and any other party indemnified and held harmless by Meadows Christian Fellowship (each considered one of the ‘RELEASES’ herein) FROM ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES ON MY ACCOUNT CAUSED OR ALLEGED TO BE CAUSED IN WHOLE OR IN PARTY BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE “RELEASES” OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING NEGLIGENT RESCUE OPERATIONS, NEGLIGENT SECURITY, TRAVEL, AND RECREATIONAL OPERATIONS AND ACTIVITIES; AND I FURTHER AGREE that if, despite this RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT I, or anyone on my behalf, makes a claim against any of the Release’s, I WILL INDEMNIFY, SAVE, AND HOLD HARMLESS EACH OF THE RELEASES from any litigation expenses, attorney fees, loss, liability, damage, or cost which may incur as the result of such claim.
AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE/PHOTO RELEASE AND MEDICAL RELEASE
I grant to the Directors, Assistants, or assigned chaperones of this event to act as guardians/spokesperson in granting permission for emergency treatment/hospitalization (including anesthesia) if necessary for me enroute to or from or at the site of Meadows Christian Fellowship event or hospital or other medical facility. I understand that should a health emergency arise the emergency contact provided will be attempted to be notified, but that if the contact cannot be reached by telephone, such medical treatment as deemed necessary, by competent medical personnel is authorized.
INSURANCE; Meadows Christian Fellowship provides excess medical insurance for any person participating in a Meadows Christian Fellowship-sanctioned activity. If the person has other medical coverage, theirs will be applied first, followed by Meadows Christian Fellowship insurance.
